Job Summary

This role is a Technical Support Specialist with an emphasis on IT Security and Compliance. This role is responsible for the development and implementation of procedures and guidelines to assist with RFPs and Audits. Ensures compliance with HIPPA standards, aligns with best practices. Develops and maintains information technology security and privacy guidelines and standard operating procedures and guidelines, assesses and provides recommendations or builds business cases for internal or external security services, works with other admins to prioritizes security needs by risk, and provide advice and recommendations on information technology security and data privacy information technology team

Key Result Areas

  • Identifies and works with admins to implement processes and tools needed to monitor information technology security and data privacy.

  • Manages regular security and intrusion tests to networks and systems using internal and external resources, identifies weaknesses and gaps, and recommends actions for resolution.

  • Provides input and recommendations related to data privacy issues from both a strategic and regulatory perspective.

  • Collaborates with the TSC (Technology Services Center) team and Legal team to ensure information technology privacy and security guidelines are up to HIPPA requirements and business best practices.

  • Functions as an internal consulting resource to information technology and business teams on all aspects of security and data privacy issues.

  • Develops and maintains information technology security and data privacy guidelines, standard operating procedures and guidelines. Works with others to Identifies and implements required information technology security and data privacy internal controls.

  • Oversees the monitoring, investigation and remediation process of information security incidents.

  • Reviews new solution proposals assessing the security and data privacy aspects of changes to the information technology stack covering both infrastructure and applications.

Experience and Skills:

Minimum Qualifications

  • An associate's degree in a related area (or)

    • 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area (or)

    • A certificate in the relevant field

  • Knowledge of Computer Hardware/Software:

    • A comprehensive knowledge of current/up-to-date information technology security methods and techniques and knowledge of state-of-the-art computer hardware and software is required. Must also be tuned into what is "coming soon" that may be a more current and/or more cost-effective preventive measure for advanced threats.

  • Must be able to assess and balance security or compliance to business needs

  • Must be able to present highly technical ideas to non-technical staff of all levels

  • Must possess excellent oral and written communication and listening skills

  • Must be able to read, analyze, and interpret security audits and determine needs and SMEs to handle request

  • Ability to review logs, document findings and put together appropriate remediation

  • Ability to effectively manage remediation of findings by working with the appropriate SME

  • Excellent organizational, problem solving and time management skills required

  • General knowledge of the practices and procedures of a HIPPA Standards helpful

  • Needs to be a team player, willing to help anyone in the immediate area on a minute’s notice

  • Must be detail oriented, a self-motivator, and able to work independently

  • Must have the ability to think and act strategically and proactively.

  • Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly.

  • Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately and work well in stressful, high-pressure situations.
