Job Summary

 

In a growing and dynamic company, the Accounting Specialist II will manage the accounting functions for our mid-sized clients. The Accounting Specialist will perform the necessary accounting functions such as monitoring and payment of plan expenses, funding requests, deposits, bank account reconciliations, research, voids & refunds accounting, financial reporting and other administrative tasks as required. The Specialist will have the opportunity to provide a high level of customer service to clients to ensure all their accounting administration needs are met. Additional responsibilities might include managing other smaller groups, providing reporting, handling miscellaneous functions in the department and project work.

 

Key Result Areas

Essential

 

  • Manage and oversee clients’ accounting functions and reporting

  • Pay plan expenses timely and accurately by scheduling and preparing checks, and resolving invoice or payment discrepancies

  • Perform day-to-day financial transactions including tracking of deposits, voids, stop pay and refund checks to ensure complete and accurate credits are applied

  • Maintain accounting ledgers by verifying and posting account transactions

  • Monitor account activity, research and resolve discrepancies

  • Provide financial research and analysis of clients’ plan expenses

  • Reconcile bank accounts monthly, accurately accounting for all plan expense and credits

  • Create and prepare bills, invoices and reporting

  • Interact closely with clients, brokers, banks and our internal departments to research problems, address questions, provide data and resolve issues on the client’s behalf

  • Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with company policy and accepted accounting practices

  • Write Best Practice (BPs) processes to efficiently and accurately document the specific accounting administration instructions

  • Assist with 1099 corrections and maintenance

  • Complete projects and other assignments as required

 

 

Experience and Skills:

Minimum Qualifications

 

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • 2 years experience applied accounting and banking administration

  • Intermediate level experience with Microsoft Word and Excel

  • TPA experience preferred

  • Good analytical and problem solving skills, with strong attention to detail

  • High aptitude for accuracy with proven results

  • Leadership and customer service qualities; exemplify strong initiative and communication skills

  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction/supervision

  • Show flexibility as a team player and ability to multi-task
