Job Description:

In a growing and dynamic company, the Accounting Specialist II manages the accounting functions for our mid-sized clients. The Accounting Specialist II performs necessary accounting functions such as monitoring and payment of plan expenses, funding requests, bank account reconciliations, research, voids & refunds accounting, financial reporting and other administrative tasks as required. This position has the opportunity to provide a high level of customer service to clients to ensure all their accounting administration needs are met. Additional responsibilities might include managing other smaller groups, providing reporting, handling miscellaneous functions in the department and project work.

Key Result Areas

  • Manages and oversees all the accounting functions and reporting for several mid-sized clients.
  • Pays plan expenses timely and accurately.
  • Ensured complete and accurate credits are applied.
  • Performs various financial research and analysis of client’s plan expenses to ensure Client Accounting is reporting accurately.
  • Monitors and reviews account activity, researching and resolving discrepancies, problem solving and accurately reporting adjustments on the account.
  • Reconciles bank accounts monthly, accurately accounting for all plan expense and credits, then reporting to the client.
  • Interacts closely with brokers, banks and our internal departments to research problems, address questions, provide data and resolve issues on the client’s behalf.
  • Writes Best Practice (BPs) processes to efficiently and accurately document the specific accounting administration instructions.
  • Performs percent-of-savings reporting, bank fees and special revenue invoices - pulls monthly reports to create third-party invoices.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or needed.

Experience and Skills:

  • High school degree or equivalent.
  • Two (2) years’ experience in applied accounting and banking administration.
  • TPA experience preferred.
  • Good analytical and problem solving skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • High aptitude for accuracy and proven results.
  • High technical aptitude for computers and programs, having advanced knowledge of Excel spreadsheets, Internet, Microsoft Word and Outlook.
  • Leadership and customer service qualities, exemplifies strong initiative and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently on non-structured tasks, manage workload, prioritizing work and meeting tight deadlines, as well as effectively work with a team.
  • Efficiently work with clients and vendors on the phone to address and resolve banking issues.
  • Show flexibility as a team player and ability to multi-task.
  • Able to demonstrate excellent attendance and punctuality.
  • Excellent customer service attitude and professionalism.
  • Demonstrate Accuracy, Customer Service, Timely Turn-Around (ACT).
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • Ability to work efficiently, perform multi-tasking, prioritize tasks, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Possess a high degree of integrity and discretion, as well as the ability to adhere to both company policies and best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with security practices and procedures, including HIPAA and HITRUST standards.
