Job Description:


The Network Administrator I is responsible for the set up, configuration, support, and maintenance of AmeriBen’s internal and/or external networks and network monitoring. This includes participating in changes to the environment, testing updates, troubleshooting network performance issues, creating and maintaining a disaster recovery plan, maintaining documentation, and monitoring performance. Recommend upgrades, patches, and new applications and equipment. Provides technical support and guidance to users and the ServiceDesk. In addition to the network, the position also helps support other business relevant systems.


Key Result Areas

  • Manages Network Security and Configuration for all best practices surrounding security.
    • Includes: IDS, Spam Filtering, VLANs, Router management, network system logging and alerts, etc.
  • Participates in major equipment purchases of computers, telephones and networks.
  • Participates in after hours on-call support for computer, network and phone issues.
  • Coordinates system maintenance and develops projections for growth.
  • Manages out-sourced or in-house technicians in installations, monitoring and testing of hardware and software related to network and telephone systems.
  • Handles support tasks escalated from ServiceDesk.
  • Configures and maintains networks (LAN,WAN,VLAN).
  • Oversees Network, route/switch log and config backups and recovery.
  • Supports HP/ARUBA switching.
  • Writes/maintains Best Practices/Procedures specific to functional area.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or needed.


Experience and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems, or related field or a combination of relevant education, certifications and experience.
  • CCNA certifications required. CISSP & CEH is a plus.
  • Able to work normal business hours as well as odd hours for support as problems or company needs arise.
  • Able to operate without policies or procedures to govern day-to-day operations.
  • Experience w/ Server virtualization via VM-Ware ESX or other similar enterprise class software.
  • Working knowledge of:
    • Computer systems and peripherals.
    • Linux/Windows operating systems
    • Exchange Server 2013 and O365
    • HP/ARUBA switching and routing, Cisco ASA
    • VLANs and switch redundancy
    • Security configurations (IDS/IPS, VPN, DNS, DHCP, FTP, HTTP, and Firewalls)
    • Network optimization, Knowledge of monitoring tools a plus
  • Types 45 wpm, 10-key and computer knowledge.
  • Able to demonstrate excellent attendance and punctuality.
  • Excellent customer service attitude and professionalism.
  • Demonstrate Accuracy, Customer Service, Timely Turn-Around (ACT).
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • Ability to work efficiently, perform multi-tasking, prioritize tasks, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Possess a high degree of integrity and discretion, as well as the ability to adhere to both company policies and best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with security practices and procedures, including HIPAA and HITRUST standards.
  • Ability to efficiently and effectively perform the Key Result Areas with or without a reasonable accommodation without posing a direct safety threat to others or self.
