Job Description:

In a growing and dynamic company, the Accounting Specialist III is responsible for assisting the Supervisor and Team Lead with higher-level accounting and administration functions, with new group implementations and training of staff. This position assists with new bank account set-up and services, manages groups, performs bank reconciliations, performs research and analysis, oversees the IRS 1099 Tax reporting and provides mentoring to team regarding problem solving, research, reporting and more complex accounting issues.

Key Result Areas

  • Manages large Client's accounts as assigned. Validates and pays their monthly expenses, ensuring fees are paid accurately and timely, providing financial reports, giving customer service and performing research and analysis on the accounts.
  • Responsible for bank account reconciliations, by reviewing account activity, and balancing the funding and expenses between our system's CFUND records and Bank statements in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Oversees IRS 1099 Tax reporting for Client's Welfare Plans. Assists Team Lead in generating and transmitting year end 1099 files to IRS and oversees corrections of 1099s.
  • Assists Team Lead with department initiatives and EFT accounting, reporting, research and problem solving. Helps to develop improved reporting and processes, and assists with setup and testing of new bank accounts, Remote Deposits service, while coordinating with banks, technology departments and Clients during the process.
  • Assists Supervisor and Team Lead with new group implementations. Attends meetings, gather information, sets-up accounting systems, establishes processes, communicates to internal and external customers and provides feedback to the Groups.
  • Performs in leadership roles as assigned, supports and mentors support staff with research, problem solving, analysis, technical issues and workload coverage.
  • Oversees projects as assigned by Supervisor and Team Lead.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or needed.

Experience and Skills:

  • Associates’ (or Bachelor’s) degree in accounting, finance or similar field.
  • Eight (8) years’ experience in applied accounting and banking administration.
  • TPA experience preferred.
  • Leadership and mentoring experience preferred.
  • Good analytical and problem solving skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • High aptitude for accuracy and proven results.
  • High technical aptitude for computers and programs, having advanced knowledge of Excel spreadsheets, Internet and QuickBooks, Microsoft Word, Power Point and Outlook.
  • Experience with large bank account reconciliations, spreadsheets, and analyzing accounting data.
  • Leadership and customer service qualities, exemplifies strong initiative and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently on non-structured tasks, manage workload, prioritizing work and meeting tight deadlines, as well as effectively work with a team.
  • Possesses a disciplined focus for detail, accuracy and problem solving, and demonstrates a high aptitude for making sound decisions using good judgment and integrity with Client’s bank accounts.
  • Efficiently work with clients and vendors on the phone to address and resolve banking issues.
  • Show flexibility as a team player and ability to complete projects in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Able to demonstrate excellent attendance and punctuality.
  • Excellent customer service attitude and professionalism.
  • Demonstrate Accuracy, Customer Service, Timely Turn-Around (ACT).
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • Ability to work efficiently, perform multi-tasking, prioritize tasks, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Possess a high degree of integrity and discretion, as well as the ability to adhere to both company policies and best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with security practices and procedures, including HIPAA and HITRUST standards.
