Job Description:

The Registrar I manually inputs health claim information that the automated system is unable to process. The Registrar I does this via accurate data entry of claim information for all client groups (claimant, provider, network and all claim detail) into the GBAS system. This position must be comfortable working with a variety of claim types that are received in various ways, such as, via email queues, GBAS call logs, electronic images, and hardcopy.

A Registrar I may not have any prior health insurance or claims experience, but will be a fast learner with high attention to detail.

Key Result Areas

  • Accurately performs data entry into GBAS for standard medical, dental, vision, RX, and Superbill claim forms.
  • Accurately creates hardcopy files for paper claims.
  • Effectively works registration call logs in GBAS.
  • Responds in a timely manner to emailed registration requests.
  • Maintains turn-around time, specifically as it relates to performance guarantee groups.
  • Identifies proper and improper claim submissions.
  • Identifies discrepancies in claim submissions and alerts processors or lead/supervisor as necessary.
  • Follows claims matrix for group specific rules and instructions.
  • Ability to learn and retain a variety of processes for handling different claim types.
  • Ability to learn and retain differentiated processes for claims routing.
  • Attends and participates in team meetings.
  • Attends Leadership Forums at least twice monthly, and Company Views monthly.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or needed.

Experience and Skills:

  • High school degree or equivalent.
  • Types 45 wpm, 10-key by touch, and computer knowledge.
  • Must possess basic math skills.
  • High attention to detail, and able to produce a quality product.
  • Easily adapts to change, specifically in task processes.
  • Able to demonstrate excellent attendance and punctuality.
  • Excellent customer service attitude and professionalism.
  • Demonstrate Accuracy, Customer Service, Timely Turn-Around (ACT).
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • Ability to work efficiently, perform multi-tasking, prioritize tasks, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Possess a high degree of integrity and discretion, as well as the ability to adhere to both company policies and best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with security practices and procedures, including HIPAA and HITRUST standards.
  • Ability to efficiently and effectively perform the Key Result Areas with or without a reasonable accommodation without posing a direct safety threat to others or self.
