Job Description:

A Claims Processor II provides internal and external customer service related to claims processing. Prior medical claims processing experience of 3-5 years is required.

Key Result Areas

  • Maintains production minimum of 25-27 claims per hour.
  • Completes call logs, skimmages and pends on a daily basis as assigned.
  • Completes claims on a daily basis for the groups assigned.
  • Maintains accuracy of 99% for financial, 97% for payment, and 95% for procedures.
  • Reviews and handles medical records.
  • Audits new processors and provides feedback to the Claim Team Lead.
  • Handles claim adjustments.
  • Participates in the weekly Claims Processor meeting and provides feedback.
  • Ability to organize a meeting specific to a topic and prepare an agenda.
  • Consistently attend the Leadership Forums and Company View each month.
  • Participates with the Pulse as a team member or volunteers to help with a Pulse event.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or needed

Experience and Skills:

  • High school degree or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years’ medical claims processing experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of medical and dental terminology.
  • Extensive knowledge of ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT coding.
  • Good problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Types 45 wpm, 10-key by touch, and computer knowledge.
  • Able to demonstrate excellent attendance and punctuality.
  • Excellent customer service attitude and professionalism.
  • Demonstrate Accuracy, Customer Service, Timely Turn-Around (ACT).
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • Ability to work efficiently, perform multi-tasking, prioritize tasks, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Possess a high degree of integrity and discretion, as well as the ability to adhere to both company policies and best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with security practices and procedures, including HIPAA and HITRUST standards.
  • Ability to efficiently and effectively perform the Key Result Areas with or without a reasonable accommodation without posing a direct safety threat to others or self.
