Job Description:


The Retirement Benefits Analyst I provides administration and record keeping for defined contribution retirement plans, provides superior customer service, builds and maintains strong client relationships.


Key Result Areas

  • Completes plan valuations with minimal assistance, in a timely and accurate manner, including plan asset reconciliation, processing of all required transactions on the record keeping system and prepares all government filings for the plan.
  • Works with ERISA and other pension laws/regulations required to perform defined contribution compliance/ADP/ACP testing.
  • Reviews plan documents and summary plan descriptions to determine plan features.
  • Manages a case load of approximately 50 less complex defined contribution plans.
  • Completes an average of two less complex plan valuations, including IRS Form 5500, per week.
  • Assists Administrative Assistants, Assistant Analysts and Analysts as needed.
  • Completes projects in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Work towards obtaining pension or 401(k) related professional designation.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or needed.

Experience and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent related experience.
  • Three years of pension administration experience.
  • Knowledge of retirement plan industry, ERISA, DOL & IRS regulations, and plan document issues.
  • Ability to apply technical knowledge.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks and make sound decisions under stressful conditions.
  • Types 45 wpm, 10-key and computer knowledge.
  • Able to demonstrate excellent attendance and punctuality.
  • Excellent customer service attitude and professionalism.
  • Demonstrate Accuracy, Customer Service, Timely Turn-Around (ACT).
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • Ability to work efficiently, perform multi-tasking, prioritize tasks, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Possess a high degree of integrity and discretion, as well as the ability to adhere to both company policies and best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with security practices and procedures, including HIPAA and HITRUST standards.
  • Ability to efficiently and effectively perform the Key Result Areas with or without a reasonable accommodation without posing a direct safety threat to others or self.
