Job Description:


The Security Analyst is responsible for monitoring and analyzing AmeriBen data and information systems. The Security Analyst participates in running incident response and works from a security mailbox. This role is also responsible for assisting in the remediation of any findings and building a working relationship with the information technology team to help remediate.

Key Functions

  • Build a strong understanding in our tools to build a story detailing an alert or vulnerability, to be able to help provide a remediation plan.
  • Troubleshoot and identify issues in technologies or process deficiencies.
  • Build purposeful alerts and dashboards with available tools.
  • Investigate alerts through research and the use of log files.
  • Collect data to help analyze vulnerabilities or security gaps in our network.
  • Organize remediation of alerts/vulnerabilities or any discovery from our SIEM or a PenTest
  • Ensures compliance with and provides input to security policies, standards and procedures. Conducts all tasks in accordance with the requirements to comply with security controls.
  • Take initiative and drive assignments to completion, which requires running projects that fall in line with the job duties including, but not limited to, remediation's and/or security incidents.
  • Work proficiently using a ticket queue and/or email, to respond to security incidents and drive security initiatives.
  • Be involved in a yearly policy review process.

Experience and Skills:

  • High school degree, or equivalent.
  • 1-3+ years' experience in IT and/or Security field.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to handle conflict and work in stressful situations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with log management/SIEM analysis and reporting tools preferred.
  • Additional security expertise in endpoint security, including: Anti-Virus protection, EPP/EDR, desktop encryption, device management, patching, etc.
  • Knowledge in key areas such as: Firewalls, IDS, IPS, VPN, Remote Access, Security Logging, Vulnerability Management, Security Incident Response, Penetration testing.
  • TCP/IP networking (IP addressing, DNS, Routing, Switching, Ports and Protocols).
  • Knowledge of current events in Cyber Security and associated patching and remediation efforts.
  • Industry certification related to cyber security (Sec+, CySA+, CASP+, CEH).
