Job Description:

The Product Owner I partners with team members, key internal personnel and subject matter experts to identify needs, assess gaps and works cross-functionally to coordinate and establish priorities, for software applications and processes, including programming, testing, and implementation of business solutions designed to meet requirements of various departments.

Key Functions

  • Works closely with agile development teams to create use cases, requirements, and estimations in support of company objectives
  • Coordinates product development in at least one product family, feature release planning, and manages the overall successful delivery of new and existing products.
  • Communicates needs to acquire resources necessary for the success of the product.
  • Proactively determines, maintains, and outlines work in the product backlog; works with the Product Manager to decide which activities will produce the most return on investment; and prioritizes features based on business value and need.
  • Works closely with the development team and customers to ensure there is a clear understanding and transparency around needed features, including facilitating code reviews and demos, and collecting feedback.
  • Acknowledges and responds to questions from the team, supports innovation and respects the team's creativity, offers direction, and removes obstacles based on the type of product.
  • Ensures compliance with HIPAA and HITRUST information security requirements to protect client information.
  • Efficiently and effectively perform the Key Functions with or without a reasonable accommodation without posing a direct safety threat to others or self.

  • Performs other duties as assigned to ensure individual and group goals are achieved with Accuracy, Customer Service and Timely Turnaround.

Experience and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in with major course work in computer science, information systems, product development or related field; or 2+ years of equivalent experience in IS/IT; or in the healthcare industry.
  • Excellent problem solving and analysis skills.
  • Experience with a project management methodology (such as Scrum/Agile) and writing effective documentation.
  • Excellent customer service attitude and professionalism.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.). 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification in one or more of the following: Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) via Scrum Alliance, Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), SAFe Product Manager/Product Owner with PMPO Certification, IEEE Computer Society Scrum Product Owner Certification, Scrum Product Owner Accredited Certification by the International Scrum Institute
  • Knowledge of current technologies and trends within the IT industry
  • Knowledge and experience with Agile development and methodologies
  • High organizational and time management skills.
  • Knowledgeable of third-party administrator industry processes and understanding of the healthcare industry.
