Job Description:

Refund Adjustment Specialists are dedicated to ensuring medical claim adjustments and refunds are applied accurately and timely, while adhering to the AmeriBen core values of Integrity, Initiative, Good Judgement and Teamwork. Strong candidates will have a love for working with numbers and the ability think analytically.

Key Functions

  • Navigates proprietary software systems to correctly identify claim details, including payment sources.
  • Process basic medical claim adjustments in a timely manner.
  • Review and apply Electronic Funds Transmission reversals.
  • Handles simple payment voids, stop pays, refunds and unclaimed property adjustments.
  • Process return mail involving payments.
  • Ensures compliance with HIPAA and HITRUST information security requirements to protect client information.
  • Adheres to AmeriBen culture by demonstrating Integrity, Initiative, Good Judgment, and Teamwork.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to ensure individual and group goals are achieved with Accuracy, Customer Service and Timely Turnaround.

Experience and Skills:

  • High school degree, or equivalent.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
  • Strong math and critical thinking skills.
  • 1-2 years of claims processing or accounting experience.
  • Demonstrated excellent attendance and punctuality.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of medical and dental terminology.
  • 2-4 years of medical claims processing or related experience.
  • Proven attention to detail and ability to follow instructions independently.
